Gooding classic auction still defies crumbling economy
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The Fashion Square shopping center may no longer be the most prestigious place for purchasing consumer goods in this upscale Phoenix suburb, but each January, two large tents are set up in the parking lot near the Dillard's department store and buyers from around the world come in person, by telephone, by Internet or by proxy to bid, sometimes in shocking amounts, on classic automobiles.
