Society Confidential: Faye Dunaway to film in Grand Circus Park

It's D-town, jake...
Actress Faye Dunaway really was scouting locations a few months ago when she had a private party at the Book-Cadillac Hotel's champagne bar. The "Chinatown" star (we prefer to think of her as that or Bonnie Parker rather than as a wire-hanger-wielding Joan Crawford ) will be emoting as volatile Greek opera star Maria Callas in scenes for the movie "Master Class" filming in Grand Circus Park in downtown Detroit on Monday. That's just a hop, skip and a jump from a refreshing flute of Cristal at the Book-Caddy. We presume the "Red Dawn" crew won't be machine-gunning folks, torching cars or blowing up buildings too close to the temperamental diva ... Dunaway's been appearing in the play "Master Class" for years, and is finally making it into a movie.
Heavy music
Last week's party at Memphis Smoke for the Bob Seger photo book "Travelin' Man" (by Tom Weschler and Gary Graff ) was loud enough, being a mini-reunion of Detroit music business folks. Add to that the cacophony of the Seger tribute band Lookin' Back . Seger's longtime manager Punch Andrews had to borrow earplugs, but former Silver Bullet Band guitarist Drew Abbott enjoyed it, saying, "It's good to hear the old songs" and jamming with them. In the house: Abbott's former g.f. Krystal Campbell , former Silver Bullet Band drummer Charlie Allen Martin , former Capitol promo man Craig Lambert and former Harmony House execs Jerry Adams and Sandy Bean . Deposed WRIF jock ArthurPenhallow sat convivially at his former boss Doug Podell's table, which included WCSX jocks Steve Kostan and Karen Savelly and Greater Media uber-boss John Gallagher . "I love Arthur," Podell insisted. "I wish we could have come to a deal with him."
Six Degrees rises to 944
Mikey George is a happy camper these days since 944 Magazine (a magazine chain) acquired his pocket-sized entertainment publication Six Degrees. Rebecca Stevens , managing editor of Ambassador Magazine, is now editor of 944 Detroit, so we wondered where that leaves Ambassador, which also promotes fashion, entertainment and lifestyle topics to a youthful market. At a recent soiree, publisher Denise Ilitch assured us that the magazine was not going anywhere. "Dennis (ArcherJr.) and I are very passionate about what we do ... We'll take our time to find a new editor and continue publishing a quality product," she said.

Scattershot
Sharp-eyed locals recognized Detroit native Max Gail , brother of Emily "Say Nice Things About Detroit" Gail , on an episode of CBS' "Criminal Minds" Wednesday. Max, who played "Wojo " on "Barney Miller," played a grandpa with a long, white beard...
We'd heard that the high-end wedding business at the Roostertail has been doing well, and that must be true: Semi-retired owner Tom Schoenith is taking a 26-hour flight to Bangkok, Thailand, just to dine at the ultimate high-end new restaurant Sirocco, a luxe, open air eatery (no roof!) on the 63rd floor. He'll then turn around and fly back to Detroit.
