Singer says Tigers make Detroit shine

Dennis Edwards knows there's more at stake in the American League Championship Series than just a World Series berth.
"If the Tigers can pull this off, it will be one of the greatest things to ever happen to this city," said the singer, who sang the national anthem before Friday's game with The Temptations Revue Featuring Dennis Edwards.
Edwards now calls St. Louis home, but the former Motown singer has a huge place in his heart for Detroit.

"We need this," he said. "Through sports, we're going to make the world know this is still a great city. We hope to be back next week for the World Series!"
Edwards and the Temptations Revue were a few of the notables in attendance Friday for the Tigers 3-0 victory over the A's. Also there to root on the Tigers were WKQI-FM (95.5) morning show deejays Mojo and Spike.
Rumors were flying that one or both of Detroit's rockin' Bobs -- Seger and Ritchie, the latter better known as Kid Rock -- were at the game, though neither was spotted by The News. Maybe the cold kept them and many other celebs away.
