Motown bash celebrates 50 years

Detroit -- The Motown Golden Gala kicked off Saturday evening with a special VIP reception for special ticket holders, Motown VIPs and staff. Before the VIP reception Stevie Wonder ran through a number of songs, including "Overjoyed." Otis Williams of the Temptations said the Tempts will close their part of the show with "(I Know) I'm Losing You." - 8:37 pm

Levin urges senators to vote for health care debate

Sen. Carl Levin, D-Detroit, is asking fellow senators to debate health care overhaul legislation.

Washington-- Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan urged his colleagues Saturday to vote in favor of allowing a proposal to overhaul the nation's health care system to move forward, rather than "close the doors of this chamber to debate of one of the most urgent problems Americans face." - 8:32 pm

Boy shot in Green Oak Twp. while ringing doorbells as prank

Green Oak Township-- Authorities say a 15-year-old boy who was ringing doorbells as a prank in Livingston County was shot by a 69-year-old man at one of the homes. - 8:32 pm

This weekend, the Gordy family, Motown artists, staffers and fans have gathered to celebrate the music and the company, a defining part of the personality and culture of Detroit for 50 years.

48 hours: Weekend highlights
Children are invited to decorate a gingerbread house and have hot chocolate with Santa Claus at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House on Sunday.

Review: 'New Moon' is just what 'Twilight' fans want -- unfortunately

Tom Long: A big bowl of adolescent romantic mush garnished with horror-lite action scenes and a rushed road trip, "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" is a mess. But to be fair to director Chris Weitz and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, it is the mess "Twilight" fans were expecting and probably demanding.
